Powerful Image of 2011

Every now and then I find a photo that reminds me why I am pursuing photojournalism. Some photos say so much more than a thousand words and has more meaning than you can write about or has enough emotional depth to send you reeling to regain your composure. Even if in the time I spend in the field I end up with only one photo like this one it will all be worth it.

Australian Scott Jones kisses his Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas after she was knocked to the ground by a police officer's riot shield in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadians rioted after the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins.
